We are currently doing a fundraiser to try to raise money to buy a vehicle for the Sanctuary. We live in the mountains and are always in danger of being evacuated due to forest fires. We had an old RV, but it has given up the ghost and so we are desperately in need of a get-away vehicle that can fit all the dogs. We only have one personal vehicle (since I rarely leave the house) and it is a tiny Suzuki that my husband uses for work, so I’m here at the Sanctuary with no vehicle, which is scary because if one of the dogs has a medical emergency I don’t have a way of getting them to the vet. I don’t make a salary from running the Sanctuary, yes, I work 24/7 for free, a true labor of love, so a car payment is out of the question for me. We are looking for a large SUV or van type situation. If you have a vehicle you’d like to donate (we are a nonprofit, so it would be tax deductible) please get in touch with us using the contact form, or if you’d like to donate to our fundraiser, please use the button above.

We are looking for an older 4wd vehicle and are hoping to raise around $5K to purchase one ASAP as we are in forest fire season.

Thank you so much for your generosity!

Old dogs are the most likely to be overlooked at shelters.

We rescue senior and special needs dogs that are in danger of being euthanized.

All of our dogs come from shelters. We don’t take owner surrenders or dogs that have already been rescued by other rescues/sanctuaries because why rescue a dog that has already been rescued? We save all of our spaces for dogs that will be euthanized if not rescued.

Our dogs come to live in our home as family members. No outbuildings, kennels, or foster homes. We don’t have staff or volunteers to care for the dogs. These guys live in our home and are taken care of in a true family environment by me, my husband and my son. We do not rehome dogs. This is their forever home.

And despite this work being challenging and of course heartbreaking at times, it’s helped us discover the secret to happiness...an old dog, of course.
